Mrs Doncaster Galaxy 2016/2017

Mrs Doncaster Galaxy Fundraising · 18 July 2016
My name is Corrine Binks, I am 38 years old and have recently been given a place in the grand final of the Mrs Galaxy UK pageant - something that I would never thought I would do at my age but am proud I have got this far. I am now known as Mrs Doncaster Galaxy!
I am a Civil Engineer, working in a heavily dominated man's world which I love. I am also a STEM Ambassador promoting the industry to young people and hope that by doing this pageant, can allay some of the stereotypes some young girls have that engineering is for boys, dirty and you can't be girly...doesn't get much more girly than this!
I want to use my title to raise funds for the chosen charity - every little helps as they say! The Christie are a cancer charity based in Manchester and do some amazing work providing enhanced work over and above the NHS services - more information can be found here www.christie.nhs.uk
The funds raised by UK Galaxy Pageants will be directed to the Proton Therapy Research Room. Details can be found here http://www.christie.nhs.uk/services/i-to-q/proton-beam-therapy/
I think its important to donate to any cancer charity in many ways as they are all striving for the same outcome - to rid cancer for good. We all know someone who has either been lost to, suffering with or has survived this terrible disease - it knows no bounds and doesn't care who or what it attacks. We need to unite against it, keep the fight going until we have a winner - us.
With that in mind, please give generously, even a pound will help. I have set an initial target of £1000 but we don't have to stop there, we can smash the target if we can.
I am also doing fundraising events outside this page so will keep you all updated as to what the events are should you wish to donate for those. We have until 28th February to achieve as much as we can. I look forward to seeing our progress - together.
