My Mum, Julie, used to say that she preferred animals to people! Less trouble, loyal and unconditional love in abundance. Being a farm girl, she grew up around animals and throughout her life, continued to love and support lots of furry, fluffy or feathered friends. The joy she received from this was beyond measure. Now that she has passed away, it seems a fitting tribute to make donations in her name, to continue her love and care of all creatures, great and small.
Our lifelong local vet, Mr Barnes, has suggested Petsavers (the charitable division of the BSAVA) as a worthy cause. I believe Mum would have liked the idea of supporting an organization dedicated to improving the health of pets and providing vets with a better understanding of the illnesses that affect animals.
Since 1974, Petsavers has already had success in gaining a better understanding of many common diseases such as diabetes, kidney failure, cancer, heart disease, arthritis and skin complaints. Their ultimate aim is to improve the health of the nation's pets by relieving the distress and pain cause by diseases for which we currently have no effective treatments. (Please note: Their clinical training and research programs DO NOT involve the use of experimental animals).
So, please donate what you can and help honour the memory of a wonderfully kind and giving person. And from those you help, a huge meow, woof, whinny, ribbit, chirrup, moo and squeak! (And a jolly large "cock-a-doodle-doo" from me too!)
