Story

My name is Katie Speakman and I have set this page up in memory of an amazing person - my mum! Susan Speakman was mother to Katie and Daniel and wife to David and in our words she was "One In A Million".

Susan was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the Liver in January 2009 and passed away on October 10th 2009. Nobody can prepare you with facing life without your mum and I never thought that I would not have her there in my twenties. But it did happen and before this I had never heard of Cirrhosis of the liver, nor did I know what a horrible disease it is. That is why the work of The British Liver Trust is so key to help to raise more awareness, to find out causes and to look for preventions.

It is hard to put into words, what my mum was like. One because I don't have enough words or space and two there are not really any words that can describe my mum! What I will say is that I have never seen a more brave person in how, even when she knew how ill she was, she never asked for anyhting and was still thinking of everyone else before herself. Mum or 'Weeble' as I nicknamed her was fun loving and always tried to see the funny side of life, her bubbly personality and laugh was infectious! Her devotion to her husband and children was endless and she held 'being a close family' in high regard.

My mums memory lives on through me, my dad, my borther and all the people that knew her and all the good times that we shared. My mum always stood up for what she believed in and that is why I don't want to sit back and let this disease take more peoples' lives.

So, in memory of Sue and to help more people, please dig deep and donate now. Thank you, Katie, Daniel and David. XxX

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
