Story

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit Muffin's JustGiving page.

To celebrate his coming of age (21 years), Muffin set out to cover 512 miles under saddle this summer - through a mixture of local hacking and joining organised rides -  to help raise awareness and money towards the welfare of other hard-working equines. He made a start on Easter weekend, and now, as of 5 October, his journey is complete. Why 512 miles? To make the 'journey' more interesting, this is the equivalent of going from his home in Norfolk to Inverness!  So, if you want to follow his virtual trek on a map, he went through Kings Lynn, passed Sleaford, Sheffield, Newcastle, Berwick upon Tweed, Stirling, Perth, and Feshiebridge, before reaching final destination of Inverness. A memorable milestone was cantering across the border into Scotland on Sunday, 11 July.

Muffin and his owner Sheril Leich hope to raise some funds for SPANA, who have directly helped around 400,000 animals over the past year, providing free veterninary treatment and advice for owners across Africa and the Middle East. SPANA's work does not just provide a lifeline for working animals; it also helps the thousands of people who depend on those animals for a living.

As an example

£5 will buy a pair of hoofcutters, giving relief from painful feet to hundreds of hard-working horses and donkeys

£15 will cover the cost of feed and bedding for a five day stay for an injured donkey recovering in one of SPANA's animal hospitals

£25 will pay for a visit to an animal hospital by local school children, where they will learn to respect and value animals and their environment.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
