Story
This community dispensary was opened in 1943 and until recently has been the only dispensary covering up to 18000 people in Kinondo location. 3 year ago nearby Zigira Dispensary started to operate followed by Kinondo Kwetu and Makongeni Dispensary last year.
The dispensary has no ward for patients to stay overnight or pregnant mothers to deliver and thus the community depends on Msambweni district hospital which is over 25kms away. At times they get patients who need quick attention before referral but there is no room to keep them for observation or emergency rest. The community is also economical impaired and even fare to go by their own is next to impossible thus the staffs are challenged and no much can be done.
Furthermore, jiggers and worm infestations are one of the major public health problems in this region. Camp Kenya launched a jigger eradication program in conjunction with Ahadi Kenya and Safaricom. Last year we treated over 4000 people free of charge for a range of different illnesses. We intend to continue with regular jigger eradication outreach programs and continuing in November, regular free medical camps with the assistance of the local clinics in the surrounding area.
We are raising funds to build a ward for the dispensary and run at least 10 free medical camps this year...
100% of donations goes directly to this project.
