Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Muhammed Thaher and here is why I'm involved in this good cause. As a family we have always been involved in charities, giving to the poor who needs the most. My father who has brought us up to always give to the less fortunate with whatever means possible. My father came from relatively a wealthy family, a village where people mostly live in poverty. Since my father left Bangladesh and settled in the UK in the early 80's he was still well connected to back home and the people there. He always used to take care of the poor and needy and extend his support for them, so when he came to the UK they would still look to him and make him aware of their struggles, they would write letters in his early years in the UK and when telephone came into existance in the villages or local town things became more accessable they would call my father for help. My father never turned anyone away without comforting them with any financial support be it for medical, food, shelter, childrens education or even weddings. In some cases my father would help fund construction of roads and bridges, he would donate his own lands to the poor families so they can farm rice paddy and harvest vegetables. My father became well respected and an example in our village for other well off families to do the same, so together they can eradicate poverty from the village. Upon till recent years my father continued this work with families support.

Recently my father became really ill when he suffered a major Stroke which left him very unstable and partly paralysed and his mobility is limited unfortunately. We all are saddened by this incident. This has prompt myself to continue his legacy by helping poor and needy not just in my fathers village but wherever in the world they maybe and from any background, culture or religion they might belong to. With this in mind I have teamed up with PennyAppeal to raise money for water facilities in Africa and Asia. The challenge is called "Walk for Water Ben Nevis Trek" in Scotland.

This is my first of many challenges which I intend to take on in the years to come God Willing and with your generous support I believe I can do this God Willing. Please kindly and generously help me raise this money which will go towards the building of the Water Wells in Africa and Asia. I would like to take a moment now to thank you for reading my story and for your donation.
