Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a volunteer at Yeldall Manor for the period Sept 09 - Aug 2010. When I came here in September I had a great time to interact with and get to know the staff and residents very well during an amazing holiday we had at Brecon Beacons in Wales. This was made possible through funds raised in the 2009 Reading Half Marathon. A number of my colleagues and I are planning to run in this year's Half Marathon, this time to raise funds for sponsoring men who are in need of rehabilitation from alcohol and drugs, but who are unable to secure full funding for the programme at Yeldall Manor. Being new here, I have set a modest target of £ 400 though I hope to raise much more than that.

Coming from Kenya, where we are renown as great athletes, expectations seem to be very high that I will do very well. That's daunting as I am really not a good athlete, in fact I have never run a Half-Marathon, let alone a full Marathon. I'm practising very hard and so far have been run six miles two times a week, which I am hoping to increase to 13miles at least two weeks before the actual race. Interestingly one of the people I look upto in doing this is Susan Boyle, if she could hide for 47 years and take the world by storm in an year, then why not me? I am asking that you sponsor me to participate in the race, and lets help make the vision of Yeldall come true.
