Thanks for taking the time to visit the African Children's Fund's JustGiving page for our Mwajuma appeal. Unfortunately in spite of the best efforts by the surgeons Mwajuma met in India, they were unable to save her and she sadly passed away in the summer of 2011. Thank you to all who donated.

Mwajuma is a 12 year old girl from Tanzania. She has had a hole in her heart since birth. This affects the way the blood is distributed around her body and caused many problems including stunted growth, wasting limbs and an enlarged abdomen. Now doctors say that if something is not done very soon she only has a few months to live.
Mwajuma urgently needs specialist surgery which is not available in Tanzania. We must immediately supply £180 to have consultant determine the best course of action without delay - and raise as much as we can as fast as we can for a life-saving operation.
Surgery will be carried out in India the nearest country with the necessary facilities and expertise. This means we must also raise money quickly for a passport and visa. As she is only 12 years old and in a very weak state she will need a member of her adopted family to accompany her, this person will also require a Passport and Visa. For her to have any hope we need your help right away.
The first £500 must be supplied not later than Wednesday 25th. Please send what you can right away. We’ll then go on fundraising as fast as we can to pay for the operation to save her life. If we are not too late and the consultant says an operation is feasible we will have just a few weeks to raise all the additional funds needed.
