My Poppy Run · 30 November 2020 to 1 December 2020 ·

My Poppy Run is a virtual run - you choose a time, distance and location between 1 October and 30 November to either run, jog or walk and help raise funds for the Poppy Appeal 2020.

Story

So many of us have struggled this year & let's face it, it has been a *@$% year.

I'm sure a lot us want to do something to help out, whether it's signing up to volunteer, be part of research studies, help your neighbours, and some have done their bit by going into work. Because I have MS means I can't do certain things to help out but I can try to raise money for good causes.

Finding a charity to support is hard as there are so many charities that need our help. I have a couple of charity's close to my heart that I would like to support.

For the last 2 years I have volunteered to sell Poppies at stations in London & managing to raise over £1500, sadly i won't be able to this year.  Due to the current situation I have decided to do the Poppy Run to raise money for the British Legion.

I will be doing my walk or run on Saturday 14th November.

The distance will be determined on how much money I raise 😃

£0 - 50 = 5k walk

£50-100 = 5k run

£100-250 = 10k walk

£250+  = 10k run

I understand money may be tight even if you can only donate £1, £1 is still a contribution to support our military men & women.

People may wonder why I support the British Legion as much as I do, here's just some of the reasons.....

My Dad & Grandad were in the RAF, I was born at RAF Holton & I spent nearly half my life as a military child. I went to boarding school at the age of 6, many of us were military children. I considered joining the RAF but I wasn't able to due to health reasons.

My aunty & Great-grandad were in the army. My stepdad's Grandad fought & sadly died during the first World War.

My first memory of modern war was when my dad was posted to the Falklands, & friends at boarding when their dad's were posted to the Gulf.

I have friends from school & work who have spent time in the military.

The last couple of years I have raised over £1000 for the British Legion selling poppies, sadly this year it is not possible so I am doing what I can by doing the Poppy Run to raise money to support the great men & women who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

I support the British Legion to show my respect. ❤

Many of us & our families have sadly been touched by war one way or another. If you know anyone who has or is in the military please consider donating to the Poppy Apeal 2020 & my poppy.

Thank you 🙂

Thank You for visiting my page! I’ve signed up to take part in My Poppy Run 2020. I’ll be joining a virtual community of fellow runners across the UK and completing my own run. By taking part in this challenge I’ll be raising funds to support the Royal British Legion. Their Poppy Appeal was founded to help those in need following a national crisis. Right now they are helping those who are isolated from family, facing homelessness, struggling to feed their children and are in financial crisis. They are working tirelessly to ensure that those who have served are being looked after no matter what challenges they, and the country faces. Your donation will mean they can continue to provide the life-changing support that our Armed Forces community needs and deserves. Thank You.
