Story

Hey everyone!

Carlisle Santa Dash 2009 is a charity event which will take place in Carlisle on Dec 6 2009 to raise funds for Eden House Children's Hospice and CFM's Cash for Kids

Why am I taking part in it? Well, who doesn't want to run 3K in a Santa outfit and raise some funds for a good cause?! ;D I've been in Carlisle for the past 12 weeks as part of my medical training and I've been loving every moment of it!

Eden Valley Hospice is a lovely little place for both adults and children with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer, chronic lung diseases, multiple sclerosis (MS) and motor neurone disease, all of which are conditions that reduces the quality of life of both patients and their carers. I've been to the Hospice a couple of times and have talked to a few of these patients who found the services provided invaluable. Not only does the Hospice provide medical care and a lively atmosphere where patients can meet other patients with similar problems and talk about it, it also allows their carers to have some time for themselves after many years of caring devotedly for their partner, parent or child.

"The annual cost of providing the service we (the hospice) offer is now some £2.7Million, about 25% of which is provided by the local NHS leaving us the challenge of finding £1.95m a year to sustain the hospice."

SO.......let's help keep a place like Eden Valley Hospice running, shall we? :)

EVERY LITTLE COUNTS!

Thank you!

Much love,

Mabel xxxxx

Only 6 days until Santa Dash 2009!

Do keep donating please! Donations will be accepted until 6/03/2010.

I've just received my Santa outfit which is massive but there's no Santa without a big belly right? I've been suggested that I stuff a pillow in and make a fake belly but we'll see!! I will take pictures on the actual day and share it with everyone else :D Much excited!

Love xxxxx
