Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Team 15 are taking part in the National citizenship programme which is a four week summer programme where teenagers between the age of 15 and 17 can learn crucial new skills such as teamwork, communication and many more as well as building confidence in ourselves.
As part of NCS we have to organise and run a social action project for a charity. Team 15, have chosen the charity CMT or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (it has nothing to do with teeth!) which is close to one of our team member's heart.
CMT is a genetic condition that damages peripheral nerves. Because of this nerve damage, people with CMT may find that some of their muscles become slowly weaker over the years, particularly in their feet and hands. Whilst it's hardly ever life-threatening it has life long effect causing long term pain and fatigue and can cause difficulty in day to day activities such as walking up stairs or for long distances and opening packaging. All these small things add up to make life very difficult for people with CMT and the charity strives to make it easier.
To raise awareness and support for the charity we are staying overnight in a haunted location. This haunted location is Dick Whittington Pub on Westgate street in Gloucester city centre which is known for its plague victims...
We chose to do this because it is a challange for the members of our team and we want to overcome our fears just as the charity helps people overcome their every day struggles.
We would greatly appreciate any donation's, big or small as it will be going to a great cause!
