My fundraising campaign and training plan began in Aruba this year, where I was on vacation with family in August. The campaign will end with the successful completion of a five day, 100 km+ expedition in Greenland's Arctic Circle trail with 99 fellow HSBCers. It's fitting that the campaign will start and finish on an island, surrounded by water. Water Aid, HSBC's charity partner for this challenge and an international non-profit set up in 1981, helps vulnerable communities around the world get access to clean water. 

844M people around the world don't have access to clean water and every day, 800 children die from diseases associated with unsafe water and sanitation and poor hygiene and handwashing practices. 2.3B people don't have access to a decent toilet. 31% of schools don't have clean water. As a father of two young boys, this last statistic really hits home.

I intend to catalogue some of my expedition training throughout the year and through social media. Please follow me on this journey and consider donating to Water Aid as I seek to raise $1000 (and hopefully much more). Stay tuned for updates!
