Clevedon Marine Lake Charity Swim, Saturday 3rd September, 10am

I will be attempting to swim 30 lengths of the Clevedon Marine Lake. It is approximately 200m long and so the total swim is 6km and will take me around 2 hours. If it is below 13 degrees, I will wear a wetsuit but I would prefer to do it only in speedos ;)

The swim will raise money for the Makhad Trust (www.makhad.org) in order to build further dams in the high Wadi's of South Sinai. The dams replenish the acquifers by slowing the flood waters and allowing the waters to seep to the water table. The water is then taken or pumped from wells in order to nourish the ancestral gardens of the local Bedouin people. Water begets water.

In November, I will be travelling out to South Sinai with a working party to build another dam. We will also take part in the 'tribal gathering'; five Bedouin tribes are meeting up to discuss all matters tribal. It will be an incredible experience to see a people mould their collective future.
