"The Child's Voice Appeal aims to recruit and train more counsellors. The appeal has enabled ChildLine to expand to include online counselling and children will be able to access help via text messages in the future.

 

Some key facts

Last year according to police figures there were over 21,000 recorded child sex offences. ChildLine can be the first point of contact for many of these cases as well as for advice on domestic abuse, neglect, bullying, poverty and other concerns facing children and young people.

·         The Child's Voice Appeal was launched because one in every three calls to the South West ChildLine went unanswered. Imagine the courage needed by the children to make a call for help - these calls should not go unanswered

·         It costs the NSPCC just £4 to answer a single call from a child
