My story
**I am very disappointed to announce that my 'NY2SY: Solo North Atlantic Row 2012' has been postponed until next year. I have been unable to raise the sponsorship required to fund the challenge properly (this is separate from the fundraising for SAMH) and feel that it would be unsafe to proceed with the challenge when I am not 100% prepared.
You can get more information on my decision here.
Thank you all for your generosity. NI
At the end of May 2012 I am going to attempt to row solo across the North Atlantic Ocean, from New York to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. I am hoping to complete the crossing of 3400 miles in just over 3 months. Only 10 people have ever successfully completed this crossing solo and no one has ever attempted the route I will be taking.
I am fundraising for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and am also aiming to raise awareness about mental health issues in general. We all know someone who is suffering, or has at some point suffered, in some way with regard to their mental health. Any donation that you feel you can make will be hugely appreciated and will go towards helping SAMH continue their valuable work all over Scotland.
(Please note that all donations made through this page will go directly to SAMH. If you would like to make a donation to the NY2SY project e.g. paying for the boat. training, equipment, logistics, then please get in touch via the website.)
Thanks so much for your generosity.
