Dear valued Supply Chain Partner

We are writing to you as a representative of your company, in the hope that you can join us on a journey.
A journey which will be fun, tiring, rewarding, exciting, emotional and at times regrettable (And no, this isn't another round of negotiations)....

Introduction

You've heard of NYPD, FDNY, FBI, CSI NY.......now be ready for NYCP (New York Corporate Purchasing).....

7 Buyers from Tesco Property-Engineering are taking on the New York Marathon this coming November.  We aim to raise as much money as possible for Whizz-Kidz, an amazing charity which does so much for children with disabilities (see the 'What Whizz-Kidz do' attachment).

Meet the Team...

Who's running? A good question, as there is not an athlete in the department!  But that is why we have set the goal at a marathon, what many people view as the ultimate test of the human body.  The runners, some of whom you will no doubt enjoy seeing struggle with the training in the coming months, are:

Michael Williamson - Senior Buying Manager
Team leader and also the veteran of the group, Michael is determined to help this great cause.

Richard Holbourns  - Buyer
Richard is the healthiest of the 7, spending most of his lunchtimes training.

Dan Travers - Buying Manager
Dan has a big challenge fitting the training in around his other hobby - being a guitarist in a band.

Steve Sharman - Buying Manager
Despite having the physique of Seb Coe, Steve swears blind he doesn't actually do any sport and he is just fortunate to have a 'fast metabolism'.

Tony Clissold - Buying Manager
Being a bit of a Jujitsu master, Tony has a challenge to complete his belt training as well as getting fit for the marathon.

Phil Spenceley - Buying Manager
Phil is the co-organiser of this fundraising activity, and has great experience having previously completed numerous running, biking and walking challenges in the aid of raising money for good causes.

Adam Smith - Buying Manager
Adam is the other co-organiser of the effort. He is keen to use this opportunity to get fit for life and football , as well as raising as much money as possible.

How Can You Help?

We would appreciate the support of our supply base in our efforts to raise as much money as possible for Whizz-Kidz.  Their website, http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/, should give you an introduction to them, and what a worthwhile cause they are.  So, as well as pestering our family, friends, neighbours, postmen, milkmen and window cleaners, we hope that you can explore the possibility of your company donating to our effort on our behalf!

To help us reach our ambitious fundraising target of £50,000 (enough for 5 Powered Wheelchairs to help children like David), we have set up a justgiving website:

Hopefully, should your company decide to donate all your charity funds to our Whizz Kidz cause, this is the route to donating:

1) By March 5th could you please email your individual Buyer (this includes Sunny and Dean) and confirm whether you intend to sponsor or not, and the amount you have in mind.
2) By April 30th, please ensure your donation is made via the Justgiving website  - or via cheque if required.

Why Help?
  • Take a look at the attached case study to get an understanding of the great work Whizz-Kidz performs on a daily basis.
  • Running a marathon is a huge task for one person, let alone 7 people from one small team.
  • It is rare for our suppliers to be given the chance to sponsor a Tesco buyer putting themselves through a lot of pain.
  • Those companies who sponsor will receive regular updates on how the team is doing, as well as letters of thanks from not only Tesco but also the Whizz-Kidz charity as well.  We will be capturing this journey in video and image format and emailing those suppliers
  • The more we raise, the more Tesco donate (tesco add a % on top of any charitable effort performed by its employees).
  • and a final very good reason for donating as much as you can.....
    • To entice companies to donate as generously as they can, we will reward the top 7 donators by branding one of the 7 runners jerseys with their company logo, and a message (if appropriate).  Photographic evidence and copies can be provided.
