Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving page. After taking up running earlier this year I felt I ought to put my efforts to good use and raise money for a worthwhile cause and take part in The Leeds Abbey Dash.
When it came to deciding which charity to support, there was only one charity in the 'running' of which i will explain....
My friends mother was diagnosed with advanced Ovarian Cancer over three years ago. Gynaecological cancer is the world’s fourth biggest cancer killer of women, with 1.2 million being diagnosed worldwide each year. Often diagnosed too late for effective treatment, ovarian cancer is the most common and most fatal of these gynaecological cancers in the UK, claiming the lives of 5,000 out of the 7,000 women diagnosed with the disease each year.
Shocked by the lack of awareness of the symptoms of this disease among both the public and GPs, my friend Kirstyn and her close friends decided to create The Hope Trust to raise money for The Eve Appeal, who share the common interest in raising general awareness and generate funds to help save women’s lives. With various successful events and supporters The Hope Trust alone have raised over £250,000 to date for The Eve Appeal helping them get one step closer to researching the detection, prevention and care for woman with Gynaecological cancer. However, that was the good news.
Sadly, Kirstyn's mum Marilyn passed away in September.
Help me to support Kirstyn and The Eve Appeal and save the lives of our Mother's, Sister's, Daughters and dear friends.
