SJP Everest Trek 2012 · 31 March 2012
Thank you for taking the time to visit my 'Just Giving' page.
In April 2012 I will be under taking the adventure of a lifetime and treking to Everest Base Camp, which is 17,500ft above sea level, along with 20 of my colleagues from where I work (St. James’s Place Wealth Management) and together we hope to raise £500,000 for our Foundation, which grants awards to the smaller UK registered charities operating in the UK & abroad, with a focus onsupporting children’s charities
One of our team will also remain at Base Camp and attempt the climb the submit of Everest.
Whilst I am a keen walker and enjoy walking holidays, this is a very different adventure with the majority of our team having limited or mountaineering or trekking experience. The walk itself will be both a physically and mentally demanding.
In order to prepare for the trip each member of the team has joined monthly training weekends, plus a week in Chamonix, plus many hours in the gym to help us prepare for the trek ahead.
This is not a subsidised holiday. Every member of the expedition will be paying all the costs for the trip and their equipment in full. I would like to emphasize that every penny of the money raised is matched by the company, the foundation then pass this onto charities which apply for grants.
I hope to raise my share of the £500,000 and would be very grateful if you could contribute to our cause by sponsoring the team and me on this adventure.
Some of the charities who will benefit include:
• Children of the Himalayas
(COTH) – who provide Malnutrition Centres for children in Nepal who desperatelyneed medical care and good nutrition. We have now helped establish 14 centres throughout Nepal.
• Teenage Cancer Trust –
The Foundation has donated over £440,000 to fund patient technology in three of Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist units – Birmingham Children’s Hospital, St. James’s in Leeds and The Royal Marsden in Surrey.
• The Children’s Trust –
The Foundation donated £1.2 million to The Children’s Trust to fund the building of a specialist Hydrotherapy Centre for children with acquired brain injuries.
Thank you for your support
