Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My orchestra, Brent Symphony Orchestra is doing a 9 hours long Tchaikathon concert to fundraise for Cancer Research UK.

The Tchaikathon is a nine-hour musical marathon where we will be playing major works by Tchaikovsky: all six symphonies, excerpts from Eugene Onegin, the Nutcracker Suite, Capriccio Italien, the 1812 and Romeo and Juliet Overtures and two arias from Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades.

The event is on Saturday 18 July 2009 at St James’ Church, Sherriff Rd, West Hampstead, NW6 2AP. It will start at 10:15 and end at approximately 19:15.

Those of you who play an instrument will understand how tired you get even after an hour of playing- let alone NINE! And to those of you who don't play an instrument, just imagine sitting on a chair (often uncomfortable) in an awkward position (can't really move), constantly reading music (eyes get tired!) and concentrating at 100% (or you know, the conductor and the people around you might give you nasty looks when you make mistakes).

Then why go through the agony, you might say? Well we do really enjoy playing, and the sense of achievement will be even greater if it's for charity! If you can spare some money (any amount will be appreciated) and help us fundraise for this worthy charity, I will be forever grateful.

You can also help us by coming to the concert on July 18th and supporting us from the audience! I think the music played by our full-size symphony orchestra will be genuinely enjoyable, and Tchaikovsky is fantastic. There is no entrance fee for audience members, however you may be kind enough to make donations on the day. We will also be serving tea, coffee and biscuits for a small fee.
