The Big Sleepout ~ 23rd October 2009.

We're sleeping rough so children don't have to.

Hey People!

So this year my sister Hannah, my step dad Ian and I are going to do the Big Sleepout 2009! :) This is where we go to the Parkgate shopping outlet in Rotherham and sleep rough all night in order to raise money for the charity SAFE @ LAST. (www.safeatlast.org.uk).

We kick off at 8pm and sleep there all night until 6am outside in exchange for sponsors. We try to imitate what life would be like for vulnerable teenagers living out in the harsh conditions every night because they feel they have no where else to turn to. We can use sleeping bags, reaaaaally warm clothing, hats, gloves and scarves; but as we are highlighting what it would be like for a child who has run away we can't use luxuries such as tents, patio heaters and camp beds etc!

We aim to raise £300 this year to help SAFE @ LAST. (Come on, thats only £100 each!)

SAFE @ LAST is a charity based in south yokrshire who works with the 1 in 9 children and young people who run away from home each year. Many feel they have no where else to go and simply sleep on the streets and in parks. By donating money to this cause, this charity can help children feel safe and supported.

Please give generously! It is so so cold this time of year and we want to make our kipping on the streets worth while for these poor people! :)
