Our running packs have arrived today. 8 days before the big race!!! Thanks for all your kind donations. Wonder what our final total will be? :-)

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When our son Alistair was just 3 months old he was admitted to the Royal Hopsital for Sick Children Yorkhill, Glasgow. On the first night the consultant that was responsible for Alistair's care told me to phone my parents because he didn't know if Alistair was going to make through the night. Alistair spent the next week in Intensive Care in Yorkhill and another 3 weeks gradually getting well enough for us to bring him home. The hospital staff did a brilliant job of looking after Alistair and the rest of his family.

Ronald McDonald provided us with bedroom for the full time that Alistair was in hospital. I was able to have either my mum or Kenny stay with me so that I was never alone. There was a room in the bedroom that connected directly to the hospital so that staff could contact me if they needed too and vice versa. There was a specfic kitchen facility that we could use to make our own meals and store food, saving us a fortune in food. In other words the Ronald McDonald Houses are the most amazing resource for parents and families when a child is seriously ill in hospital. AND it didn't cost us a penny.

The time has come for me to try to pay them back and I am running the Women's 10K in Glasgow in Sunday 13th May with my mum. I am hoping to raise as much money as possible. If I had had to pay Ronald McDonald for the time that we stayed in the house at Yorkhill it would have cost me close to £1500. I would love to pay them some of that back, if not all, so that other parents can make use of the house. Any donations that you make are very gratefully received.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
