From Friday 7th May, I shall be running 10 marathons in 10 days around Lake Windermere for the Brathay Trust in an attempt to break the ladies' world record of 41'00'47 (average 4'06 per marathon). This is a UK Athletics certified 26.2 mile course and recognised as one of the UK's more challenging road marathons. 262 miles is about the distance from London to Land's End.
I thought I'd save my inevitable request for sponsorship for something really big, so please indulge me while I dredge up the highlights of my 3 year running career
- First marathon: 5 hours and 9 minutes
- Current marathon PB: 3 hours and 36 minutes
- Number of marathons to date, including 9 ultra-marathons: 60
- Winner of the 2010 Square Mile 30 Under 30 Talent Awards under the Sport category
Training's now complete, with over 1,000 miles and 10 road marathons logged this year, with 6 of those sub 3'45 (sorry, I'm a stats geek). It's all looking good for a sub 40 push!
A couple of suggestions for you if you want to incentivise me:
- Add 10% for every marathon I run sub 4 hours
- Double your sponsorship if I break the world record
I'm happy to say that every penny of my fund raising goes straight to Brathay (runners pay their costs up front). Any donations would be very gratefully received; Brathay is a superb charity that does some stirling work for children and young people and I'm more than happy to have been selected to represent it.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
