Cambodia Community Challenge · 6 October 2018

We're raising funds to help older and younger people gain confidence in the future, whatever challenges they face today.

Story

I have been lucky enough to be selected to visit Cambodia later this year to help build a primary school in a remote part of the Knapor countryside.

In order to do this, I'm looking to raise money, which contributes to the project, (Santander and myself will cover the cost of the trip) and also to the work done by Age UK, in particular helping those elderly who are lonely and may go days without talking to other people.

Cambodia today is one of the world's poorest countries, with most of the workforce employed in subsistence farming.  The country is now relatively stable, following the murderous rule of the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s, enduring civil war, with 3 million people dying from brutal genocide.

Everyone should be entitled to an education, and this challenge will increase the school capacity in the local community, enabling improved learning, better opportunities and providing life changing support / advice to students.

The charity partners Age UK and Barnado's share this belief that no one should have to go through life alone, no matter what their age.

If you can, then please share a little towards the work undertaken by these amazing charities, your generosity will make a difference to transform lives for the better.  The great news for this appeal is that once I hit the target £2000, then Santander will double the amount to £4000.

Thank you, Natalie.
