Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
James and I are running the Great North Run to raise money for the critical care unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske, in memory of my Uncle, Barry Moyle. In 2012 my Uncle was under their care in the unit for some time, and the staff could not have been better. The care that my Uncle received was second to none, and the support that they gave to my family was above and beyond. My Uncle was a very special person in my life - he was always generous with his love and kindness, and a top bloke all round. Unfortunately he passed away in September 2012, and he will always be missed. Before he passed away, we were watching the London Paralympics, and as uncle Barry had had his leg amputated, he joked that he would be competing in the next Paralympic Games. This made me think... I have two legs - Why am I not running?! The games were really inspiring, and my uncle felt inspired by the amazing competitors, and I am inspired by my uncle.
Therefore, with my wonderful partner James' encouragement, in January this year I tried my first run.... less than a minute later and I was exhausted! I couldn't breathe and was telling James that it was impossible! With a lot of gentle encouragement and James' understanding of the highs and lows (being a marathon runner himself) we continued with the running, and in May I completed my first 5k for the stroke association. I had not felt a buzz like it! The buzz then encouraged me to apply for the Great North Run, and here we are - my first ever half marathon. On the day I'm going to use the special memories of my Uncle to keep me going, and I WILL FINISH!
So, if you would like to sponsor me, James, the critical care unit, my uncle, or just because you can't believe I'm going to run the half marathon (13.1 miles!), we would be so grateful for anything you give!
Thanks again,
Love Natalie and James xxxx
