I've been a member of WIZO since settling in Leeds and now I have an opportunity to get 'hands-on' and make a difference at some of WIZO's projects myself.

In April, I will be going to Israel on a 5 day AVIV Challenge.  (AVIV is the section of WIZO for 30-45 year olds.) During this time, I will be working at several WIZO projects doing such things as painting and renovating a refuge for abused women, building facilities such as a dance studio at a residential youth village for immigrant children and children who are survivors of abuse and neglect and also teaching English.
A common theme throughout all the WIZO projects is the love and kindness shown to these children in need and at risk.  Whatever the centre, the children are cared for, fed and encouraged to succeed at school and in life in general, in a nurturing warm environment - something which many of these children have never experienced.  Without the vital work of WIZO, many of these children would not be given the chance to live a normal, safe life.

To attend the Challenge, I need to raise at least £1850 in sponsorship.  These funds will go to crucial projects in Israel and really will make a difference.
