Hey Peeps...
Just to let you the Grapevine is a charity I have volunteered for and as much support as possible is needed. It is a charity run in partnership with people with learning disabilities, working together to bring about change, ensuring people with learning disabilities are included in everyday life and enjoy lives and are ‘connected’ to communities.
Why am I choosing the Grapevine?
It is a worthwhile, heart of gold organisation where I volunteered a few years ago and a good friend (Hannah) still volunteers there now.
I am choosing this organisation in particular as I have first hand knowledge and experience of the the charity and where the money goes to. Befriending at the Grapevine was the most rewarding volunteering I have ever been involved in.
When volunteering I was involved in providing every day such as painting peoples nails, making easter cards, engaging with people through recreational activities, simple things that we take for granted. These activites and support ensures these people have access activites like everyone else.
The money you donates means the Grapevine can provide support so that people with a learning disability can:
· Go out, enjoy meeting new people and being part of their communities· Have better health
· Understand what their rights are and what they are entitled to
· Get through crises and difficult times
· Make their own choices and decisions
· Plan for now and the future so that they get the kind of life they want
The Grapevine thinks that everyone has a right to a good life, with a home they like, a network of friends and family, work and meaningful activity.

What am i going to do?
The Kinabalu Challenge- is set in the jungles of and is a seven day adventure race with a series of daily physical and mental challenges including: running, cycling (in the 30 degrees heat) trekking in the jungles of borneo, through 21 one rivers, as well as abselling, kayaking, and a tough mountain ascent.
The challenge is made extra difficult as it includes sleeping in the jungle (leeches, spiders, snakes and all) to create a home and place to rest from using nothing other than bamboo and a ball of raffia.
I know am going to be well scared!. I went on a induction meeting at the weekend and this looks like the most challenging week of my life.
