Rwanda First Hand Experience Trip 2022 · 29 July 2022 to 7 August 2022 ·

A group of female teachers from the UK will be travelling to Rwanda in the summer of 2022 to help build classrooms and a toilet block at Group Scolaire school in the village of Muko, northern Rwanda.

Story

Last year we built two school classrooms in Mozambique. We fundraised over 40,000 pounds for labour and materials and spent a week digging foundations & laying the first bricks for the school. Under the guidance of local tradesman we managed to do work that would have taken them a month in just one week. Now the children are having their first lessons in new classrooms!

The project was such a success that we’re getting together for a new project in Rwanda. We aim to get 25 women to collectively raise over 70,000 pounds to build classrooms and toilet facilities in an over populated school. Like the project in Mozambique, we will also volunteer a week of our summer holiday to go to Rwanda and getting stuck into building. We’ve got our hard hats at the ready & are on a mission to raise our 6000 pound contribution.

As well as committing to another year of fundraising activities & in order to cover our flights & accommodation in Rwanda, we will be contributing at least 900 pound each of our own money. All money raised will go directly to buy materials and pay for local labour!

And that’s our story....well, it’s the start of it anyway!
