We raise money to help treat & beat heart and lung disease

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In September 2012, my father Abdulla underwent a lifesaving triple bypass and heart valve replacement at the leading NHS heart and lung specialist, Harefield hospital. During his time there, we saw Abdulla receive the highest standard of treatment and care from the surgeons, and all the nurses and staff in HDU and Cedar Ward 2.

Words are not enough to show our appreciation for all they did, and continue to do. So, to express our gratitude, we have decided to help Harefield in their quest for a much needed, state of the art Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner (MRI) and to also raise awareness of their outstanding and pioneering work. MRI offers speedy, safe and accurate early diagnosis of conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease, and lung cancer. It offers a high definition 3D image of the inside of the human body, unlike the 2D image offered by conventional X-rays.

In May 2013 we will embark on the High Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Located in Peru we will trek one of the more challenging Inca trails, which will take us through remote areas and up to high altitudes of nearly 5000m (16,000ft) in adverse conditions. Our journey will start in Cuzco and lead us to Mollepata where we will begin our ascent. From there we will trek, climb and camp through the Andean mountains over 7 days until we reach the pinnacle which is Machu Picchu.

Please sponsor us for such a worthwhile, and lifesaving cause. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Alternatively, if you have a UK mobile you can donate by text message. Just text 'NDAY50 £5' to 70070. There are no extra charges or fees for mobile donations (thanks vodafone!)

Please note that this trip is completely self-funded, so you can rest assured that all the money donated will go directly to the hospital. Your contribution no matter how big or small will make a huge difference, and could save someone else's father, mother or child.

Much love and thanks, Stephen and Natasha xxx
