We Support adults with brain injuries to promote independence and happiness

Story

To raise money in memory of Henry Surtees, this July I am going to Tanzania with 30 students from Newcastle to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

As I am sure you all know, Henry was just 18 when he was involved in a fatal accident last summer during a Formula 2 race at Brands Hatch.

This has obviously been a devastating loss for Henry’s family, friends and all that knew him.

The money you donate for this climb is going to Headway, the brain injury charity.  Headway are currently building the Henry Surtees Studio, which will provide an area for people who have suffered from brain injury to enjoy music, drama, art and other creative activities.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the fourth tallest of the seven summits of the world, at 5895 metres, with huge temperature variations throughout the climb ranging from 40oC at the base to -20oC at the summit.  As I’ve obviously never attempted anything like this before, I’m really excited about taking on the challenge.

I will also be staying in Tanzania for a month after the climb, volunteering to help build a school for the local children.

So please donate as generously as you can to support this worthy cause.

Thank you so much for your help, it really means a lot.
