World Vision believes change starts with children, and we deliver that by partnering with families and communities so children can thrive, speak up and shape lasting change.

Story

£1000 by December 2010 . . .

World Vision is a Christian charity that aims to help communities and families affected by diseases and illnesses, famine, poverty, natural disasters, child trafficking, war stricken environments, educating children etc etc. Basically it works at the heart of the community to see what will help it long term and what the community needs the most.

- 9.2 million children die of preventable illnesses, like diarrhoea, before they reach their fifth birthday

- Pneumonia, diarrhoea, malaria, measles and AIDS account for half of all deaths

- Of the 2 million children living with HIV only 10% have access to the medicine that can help them stay alive

- 10s of millions of people are living on the Asian Pacific, in 2007, 75% of all people killed in natural disasters were living in Asia

- 800,000 children are trafficked across our borders annually

- 8.8 million children under 5 across the world die every year

- 50, 000 people flee Iraq every month - and yet only 20, 000 of these can find food, water, and shelter

- Over 100 million children still do not attend school worldwide

People's whose lives are impacted by natural or human-made disasters need immediate help. Because World Vision is working in 100 different countries we have emergency response teams all around the world. This means that World Vision is able to respond to virtually any disaster within 24-72 hours!

I am planning on doing a 48 hour famine, from the 17th to the 19th of December and would appreciate any donations that I receive. I will be doing more activities across the year, but I will keep you updated, if you have any ideas send them my way :-)
