Story

Dear all,

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page.

On 13th September I will be running in the Nottingham marathon (which is also known as the 'Robin Hood marathon' and the 'Experian Festival of Running' but despite the three names trust me I will only be running one marathon!). Running a marathon has always been a life goal of mine, and now that my little sister has done one (in Blackpool of all places!?!), the competitive side in me felt the requirement to achieve it this year.

Training so far has been going steadily, although two weeks of lying on a beach with a beer in hand at the start of August didn't exactly turn me into Seb Coe. But who knows, with 4 weeks left I may yet be transformed into a Northern Haile Gebrselassie ...(http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/athletics/7020531.stm - yes, that is an average time of around 4.8 minutes per mile!)

However, I haven't just created this page to tell you about me. In January this year a close family friend passed away after a long battle with cancer, and I would like to commemorate her passing by using the event to raise funds for St Leonard's Hospice - a charity which provides palliative care for people with life-threatening illnesses and which is funded almost entirely through donations. They do a sterling job and I would be very grateful for any donations that you can give (please remember to add gift aid!)

Please dig deep and look for my reminders to you all on payday!
