The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

What is the 2.6 Challenge?

The Covid-19 pandemic has led us into times we've never experienced before.  These uncertain and unprecedented circumstances have led to thousands of fundraising events being cancelled or postponed, resulting in a significant impact on charity financials.

The 2.6 challenge was put together as a national response to help charities that are struggling right now.  It consists of people choosing any challenge that is related to the number 2.6 or 26, which is the number of miles in a marathon, plus the date that the London marathon (one of the biggest charitable events) would have taken place.

Our pledges:

The Change & Business Support team within Shared Services are raising money for Sands, the stillbirth and neo-natal death charity, and will be taking part in the challenge throughout the month of May.

Each team member has pledged a different challenge related to the number 2.6/26 below:

  • Alice Roberts: 260 squats a day, for 26 days
  • Amy Louise Clark: Cover 260km (walking, running, cycling) throughout the month of May
  • Anoushka Lilley: Cycle 2.6 miles daily, for 26 days
  • Caroline Buss: Cycle 26 miles per week
  • Catherine Trotman: Walk 26 mins a day, for 26 days
  • Chris Delaney-Mucklow: Walk or run 2.6 miles a day, for 26 days
  • David Beck: Cover either a 5km (min) walk, run or bike ride, for 26 days
  • Deb Furmage: Cover a 2.6km walk or 2.6 mile bike ride (min) each day, for 26 days
  • Emma Willoughby: Walk 26 mins a day, for 26 days
  • Fran Bilotta: Walk 2.6km throughout May, for 26 days
  • Kally Moore: Hula hoop (weighted) for 26 mins a day, for 26 days
  • Karen Saunders: Cycle 2.6 miles daily, for 26 days
  • Karen Thomas: Walk 2.6km (min) each day, for 26 days
  • Kate Curtis: Cycle 2.6 miles daily, for 26 days
  • Kirk Niven: Walk 2.6 miles a day, for 26 days
  • Louise Harney + Gus Harney (pet dog!): To do a different dog trick each day, for 26 days 
  • Michael Clark: Cycle 260 miles during May
  • Mya Cushion: Cover 26 miles a week, for 2.6 weeks
  • Nicki Hicks: Create audio childrens' books and publish online each day, for 26 days
  • Shalini Tupurani: 2 x 26 mins yoga sessions for 26 days
  • Sian Davies: Complete 26 mins of Disney Zumba a day
  • Tracy Webster: 260 squats a day, for 26 days
  • Will McDurnan: Run 2.6 miles a day, for 26 days
