Stafford Half Marathon 2013 · 17 March 2013 ·

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. In June 2008 I had a serious brain injury, was airlifted to hospital, in a coma for 4 days, on life support for 10 and temporarily paralysed down one side. I retired from the fire service after nearly four years on Ill Health; I have now gone back doing what I started at, just under 30 years ago, supporting people with a learning disability, but without the support I had from Headway I may never had made it! Thank you also to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Sevice for giving me the support, retraining, and opportunities to try to regain operational capability. So its now onwards and and upwards to a new (old) career! What better time to do this than at 49? I will be 50, 12 days after the Stafford Half.
