I have completed the Urbanathon in Edinburgh a "10K with a twist"on the 30th of May to raise money and to raise awareness of this very worthwhile charity. http://www.chss.org.uk/fundraising/walking_cycling_and_running/Urbathon/

As the Urbanathon is "only a 10k" I thought I would add some Bonus runs to give you value for your sponsorship

Bonus RUNS...

1. On 24th of April I ran the Highland Fling 53 miles on the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Tyndrum.

http://www.highlandflingrace.org/ I completed the Fling in about 13.5 hours. Very tough and took a lot to finish.

For some Photos of the Highland Fling on Flickr Click Here

2. Ben Lomond Hill Race 8th May. 7.87 miles and 980m climb. I ran a PB in this tough Hill Race Details and photos here

3. Goatfell Hill Race 15th May. 9.63 miles with 856m climb. I PB'd again this week details and photos here

4. Cape Wrath marathon 22nd May. One of the toughest marathons around details and photos here

Now onto the Urbanathon a 10k with a twist...

As runners we take our Heart and lungs for granted.

Imagine if you were out of breath and had to rest after just a few steps, if you struggled to get out of a chair or even dry yourself after a shower.

This is the reality of many people.

Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland provide the support and education to make a difference.

I have known and worked with Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland professionally for more than seven years. They do great work in many areas. There are many dedicated people who make a massive difference in the quality of life of people who suffer from these conditions.

I am taking part in the Urbanathon in Edinburgh on the 30th of May to raise money and to raise awareness of this very worthwhile charity. http://www.chss.org.uk/fundraising/walking_cycling_and_running/Urbathon/

If you live in Scotland why don't you get involved to and we can run a team. It only costs £10 to enter

Below is some information about Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland

These stark facts illustrate the challenges facing Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland.

The charity was formed a century ago to help in the fight against tuberculosis. That fight was won, but today the battle goes on against ailments which continue to blight the well being of the nation.

Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland's strategy is to direct resources on a number of fronts.

Research

We fund research into all aspects of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and the social impact of chest, heart and stroke illness. Our current programme is worth more than £1 million.

Care And Support

We provide care and support throughout Scotland for people affected by these conditions, as well as their families and other carers. More than 1,200 people affected by stroke, especially those with communication problems, benefit from our main community service, the Volunteer Stroke Service (VSS) and 800 volunteers help operate it locally.

Advice

The Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland Advice Line offers a direct link to confidential, professional advice from trained nurses. This is backed up by our Publications Department with booklets, factsheets, DVDs and videos, available free to patients and carers. Our health professionals provide specialist advice and training to particular groups with specific needs. More than 100 local chest, heart and stroke clubs are affiliated to Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland and our Community Support Network brings practical help and advice to those whose need is greatest.

Welfare

Our welfare grant programme provides direct financial aid to help patients and their families with some of the practicalities of living with a debilitating illness. Our specialist Benefits Advice Service is reaching a growing number of those in need.
