I Did it !

It was my Everest!

Well I am back and what an adventure!

The trek was a lot tougher than I expected but despite sleep depravation(4-5hrs a night), 40% Oxygen, fatigue, altitude sickness, sleeping in plywood "freezers", yak dung burners, Nepalese belly!, muscle cramps, sunburn, minus 25deg temps, rock falls, avalanches...... I made the trek of a lifetime and completed the 4 biggest challenges on the trek; Gokyo Ri (5355M), Chola Pass (5380M), Everest Base Camp (5365M) and Kala Patar (5545M).

I must emphasise not all the points above were on my risk assessment, particularly the Yak dung burners!

Most of all,  Nepal is a wonderful safe country with outstanding natural beauty, with great great people who have fantastic human spirit despite abject poverty, poor education and reliance on the mountain tourism industry.

Some facts about the trip.

A massive thank you to everyone who supported my charity, prostate cancer research. I have been genuinely blown away by the level of support and messages of support. I think I have raised over £4,000 so far which BP will match and special big thank you to Isle of Grain Terminal staff and contractors who held a fund raising day which raised over £1700 alone (WOW!!)
