Story
Hello thankyou for visiting my site. I am raising money for Am Fasgadh the Skye and Lochalsh Mental Health Association. Am Fasgadh provides an invaluable service to the population of Skye, providing a drop in centre, support, friendship and hotmeals/showers/laundry facilities for people with mental health problems. As one of the local Community Psychiatric Nurses I witness the good work Am Fasgadh does in a remote and rural location.
I am running the Laugevegur Iceland Ultramarathon on the 18th of July 2010 to raise funds for Am Fasgadh. This is a gruelling 55k mountain marathon traversing some of Iceland's most beautiful and challenging terrain. I will encounter extreme weather conditions, glaciers, snow fields, geysers and mountain rivers. Although I am a keen hill runner this event will certainly test my endurance and I will need to train hard to succeed. I will keep you up to date with my training and will add photos as I progress.
January 1st 2010. Training starts in earnest now. No more cakes, no more drink, no more crisps. My body is a temple. Doing 12 mile race tomorrow up a great big hill and back. Loads of snow about so will probably fall on my bum. Poor wife is going to become even more of a running widow. I'm away for a large glass of wine and bag of crisps-need to wean myself off after festivities.
