Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I ran the Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday 4th October 2009 in aid of Cruse Bereavement Care.  I chose to run for this charity as my father is a trustee of the charity and has worked with them as a councellor for a number of years.

Well, I managed to complete the marathon in 4:47, a little slower than my original plan, but the course (especially the second half) was even harder than anticipated with a good few hills to deal with.  I was on track in the first half at 2:10, but miles 17-21 were a long slow uphill drag, and it was hard to get the pace back up again.  However, I managed to keep going and I was delighted that I completed my first ever marathon - it may be some time before I do another one!

I have therefore fulfilled my long-standing ambition to run a marathon by the time I was 40.  maybe I should have chosen an easier one!
