I have decided to take the plunge, literally, and jump out of a perfectly functional plane at 10,000 feet (hopefully strapped to someone who knows what they're doing) in order to raise money for a very worthwhile cause - Anti Slavery International.

I've never done a skydive before and was feeling pretty adventurous when I signed up to do it, but as the 14 November rolls closer, the nerves are beginning to set in.  "What on earth am I doing?" has crossed my mind a number of times.  I'm still not entirely sure, but when I look at the work that Anti Slavery International do, I know it will be worth it.

Anti-Slavery International was founded in 1839 and is the world's oldest international human rights organisation, as well as the only charity in the United Kingdom to work exclusively against slavery and related abuses.  They work at local, national and international levels to eliminate all forms of slavery around the world.   Their work includes, amongst other things, campaigning for the eradication of all forms of slavery, supporting the initiatives of local organisations to release people, and pressing for more effective implementation of international laws against slavery.

Despite being banned in most countries where it is practised, millions of men, women and children around the world are forced to lead lives as slaves.  This may be through bonded or forced labour, people trafficking, child labour, prostitution.... the list goes on.
