We need your help to bring the future of medical imaging to Sheffield.

Story

I am a PhD student researching Motor Neuron Disease at SITraN (Sheffield Institute of Translational Neuroscience) at The University of Sheffield. This summer I am taking part in The Big Walk 2018, which is a walking challenge taking place on 22 June. Just a quick 26.2 mile (marathon distance) Peak District walk starting in Lodge Moor, on the edge of Sheffield, heading out into The Peaks and finishing at the University campus.

Why are we doing this?

We are raising funds towards the University’s £2 million fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Scanner - a ground-breaking MRI-PET scanner facility, and the first of its kind in Yorkshire!

The Sheffield Scanner will represent the next leap forward in medical and imaging research and have a crucial role for research and patients in many areas of medicine, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases such as Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes and stroke. We’re well over half-way to our target of £2 million – please support the Big Walk 2018 and help us reach our final goal!

Further information about the Sheffield Scanner can be found at

So please donate to this fantastic cause which will have a terrific impact for everyone in Yorkshire and beyond.
