Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I first heard my partner's dad, Graham, was considering doing a road cycle ride across France in the summer of 2009, I thought he was mad !......Too far and too hot I thought. But after a while it became clear I wanted to take part as well (I must be equally mad !).
We decided on a Brest to Paris route, off the major roads as much as possible. Starting on Saturday 22nd of August at Le Conquet, on the coast near Brest, and finishing on Friday 28th of August at Monet's Gardens, west of Paris. Total mileage according to my TomTom would be around 362 miles. Averaging around 60 miles per day.
We plan to camp each night along the way and taking some time to visit the Normandy WWII landing beaches (in this, the 70th anniversary year of the beginning of the WWII).
Our back-up team need a mention too - Caroline Lucy Ransom (my partner), Jenni Ransom (campsite organiser), Debbie Silver (Debs) and Mike Ebbutt (Mike) - Many Thanks Team.
A work colleague, Al Scott, sold me a decent road bike to complete the trip (my old mountain bike not being up to the job). I then decided to set up an online charity donation webpage to allow people to sponsor me on behalf of my preferred charity.
I have decided to donate all sponsorship money to the Scleroderma Society.
My younger brother, Geoff Brookes tragically died of the illness in December 2000 after a 5 year long struggle with the debilitating disease.
If you do wish to sponsor me, please make use of this website.
Many thanks in advance.
Neville
