20th and 21st Century Galleries Project · 7 September 2012

We work tirelessly to preserve key historic ships, boats, and aircraft. The National Museum of the Royal Navy holds the most comprehensive collection of Royal Navy heritage in the world and the largest collection of historic ships in Europe. Our vision is to link Navy to Nation, inspiring visitors.

Story

Our new galleries, set to open in 2014, will tell the story of the 20th and 21st century Royal Navy; commemorating the bravery, tenacity and valour of serving men, women and their families. Using first-hand accounts, often spoken in their own words, history will be brought to life, engaging and educating new audiences.

The exhibition will be unique in its content and deliverance, using inter-generational activities and interactive areas (to name a few), that’ll bring the extraordinary stories of ordinary service people to the forefront of public interest and knowledge.

No British museum currently celebrates the modern Royal Navy in the way our gallery will. We need a further £750K to bring these memories to life.

Your donations will enable us to tell this most remarkable story.
