Richard's little sister Kiera is now 16 months old and is a patient of the Children's Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital. She was disagnosed with a complex heart condition when she was inside the womb and has currently had 2 operations to fix her heart. She's not completely out of the woods just yet, and will need more help, but thanks to the Children's Heart Unit she is on her way. If it wasn't for the astonishing work carried out by the nurses, doctors and surgeons on a daily basis, Kiera would not be here today.
This story is one of around 300 that happens every year...
...and that's why, on 22nd August we are cycling from Newcastle to Paris, 565 miles in 4 days (which is apparently incredibly hard, i dont know because none of us have ever cycled over 50 miles before). The challenge will require each of the team to ride for over 12 hours a day for 4 days. We really can't stress how important every donation, however big or small, is to this special unit. Your money will help buy a huge array of equipment, aftercare and pay for salaries so the Children's Heart Unit can continue to save the lives of the little babies and children that come into the ward.
Please find the time to donate and tell as many people as possible about this ride, even if its just because you think there is no way we can possibly ride 565 miles in 4 days! You'll be able to track the progress of our ride from JustGiving & Facebook.
A massive thanks to anyone reading, donating or helping with this..
Richard, Dan, Andie and Tommy
