Story
As you may be aware I have worked in the automotive industry for most of my career to date and have found it both fulfilling and exciting. I’m keen to give something back
and along with eleven other Jaguar Land Rover and retailer colleagues, I have agreed to swim the channel in two relay teams as part of Ben’s Industry Leader Challenge. Ben is a motoring charity and one that is extremely important to me not least because it provides free help, advice and support to our industry colleagues and their families facing personal difficulties.
Recent events at one of our retailers drove me to take up this challenge and highlighted the value of what Ben does. Sadly, a colleague suffered a heart attack and passed away at one of our retailers and although this is an unimaginable loss both to his family and friends, Ben was there to step in to offer moral support and guidance. When something happens so close to home, it really does put things into perspective. I would like to do my bit by helping to raise awareness and funding for such a fantastic charity.
This swim is a monumental challenge for all of us. We’re putting in the hours, training hard, taking advice from swimming coaches and open water specialists in preparation to achieve our goal and cross one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes this summer.
We’ve already conquered the first hurdle and successfully completed our 2 hour open
water swim qualification but we’re under no illusion that the channel itself will be a whole different ball game. You can view a short film of our qualification efforts here:
Training and completing the swim is only one part of this challenge, we need to raise funds for Ben too, so I really hope that you will consider supporting my fundraising
efforts.
