The Neo Natal Intensive Care unit (NICU) at Poole maternity hospital has played a massive part in the lives of me and my family. My daughter Imogen was born 3 months early on the morning on the 9th May 2009 weighing only 1lb 12oz, if i was allowed to hold her she would have been small enough to be cupped in my hands. Imogen was immediately taken into NICU where she was effectively put on life support as can be seen in the pictures. Having spent nearly 2 months in the Intensive care unit Imogen was moved to the nursery to prepare her for coming home, this is still within NICU but by this time Imogen was out of her incubator. Imogen was finally allowed to come home on Wednesday 29th July having spent 81 days within the unit. Since then Imogen has gone from strength to strength and is now doing really well. This is in no small part thanks to the amazing staff within NICU who helped Imogen, Me and Emma get through this tough time and for Imogen to be doing so well.
This is why i want to undertake the challange of running the half marathon in order to say thank you to NICU for giving Me and Emma our beautiful daughter. £600 is the cost of 1 of the breathing monitors used within the unit, one of the many pieces of equipment which Imogen used during her time in NICU, and it would be amazing if i could reach this target, please give however much you feel you can to help me in supporting this cause.
