Awyr Las (Blue Sky) is the North Wales NHS Charity. Through the charity you can support the specific hospital wards, departments or community healthcare services that are closest to your heart. Your support helps fund added extras which the NHS in North Wales cannot provide.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page where we hope to raise funds for the #teamirfon campaign.

Irfon is a close family friend, uncle to our niece & nephew and father, husband, son and brother to a wonderful family. He has selflessly campaigned to raise money for the Alaw Cancer Treatment Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd (Bangor Hospital) in North Wales, which is funded by the Awyr Las (Blue Sky) charity and where he is currently receiving treatment for bowel cancer.

We are showing our support of #teamirfon by running the Bournemouth Half Marathon on October 5th 2014 and hope to raise funds for this important fund raising campaign.

Through #teamirfon we want to raise awareness of the importance of looking after your mental health whilst living with cancer. Having access to complementary therapies and counselling services is really important in helping patients and their families living with a cancer diagnosis. These extra services are funded through donations, however the Alaw unit at Bangor hospital needs over £150,000 in donations each year to fund these basic but essential extra services. Services which help to brighten patients' days.

Last year over 1,500 people with cancer were looked after on the Alaw Unit .  Since January this year they have been looking after Irfon and we know that he is receiving the best possible care from the fantastic staff. But we need your support in ensuring that they can continue to provide incredible extra care, treatment and research for future patients.

So please make a donation to help us to support this important cause.
