NEWSFLASH....
On the 16th October 2010 at approx 10am I stood on the roof of Africa after successfully climbing to the summit of Kilimanjaro.
Thanks very much to all my sponsors and those of you who personally helped with the fundraising. Your donations not only go a long way to helping those affected by Cancer, they also kept me going on the expedition when I needed to dig deep.
This page will remain open until January should you wish to make a donation.
Many thanks
Nick

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
From 9 - 19 October 2010 I will be joining around 30 people aiming to conquer the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, as part of Macmillan Cancer Support's Kilimanjaro Hiking Challenge. The 11 day challenge will take us from 1,800 meters to the summit at 5,896 meters, through rainforest, high plateau and glaciers. It promises to be an extremely testing physical challenge as we will be trekking and camping in remote and dramatic conditions, whilst also coping with extreme altitude.
This will fulfill a long-standing ambition of mine but more importantly I will be raising as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support. In case you don't know, Macmillan is a UK charity (also operating in Jersey) providing expert care and practical and emotional support which is changing the lives of people living with cancer today. The money raised will be used to fund specialist Macmillan nurses and doctors who deliver the best in cancer care, build vitally needed cancer care centres and give financial help to those who need it most.
Cancer now affects one in three people in the UK, so we will all at some time be affected by it either directly, or indirectly through family members, friends or loved ones.
My target is to raise £3000 for Macmillan, I am contributing towards my travel and expedition costs.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I have created a blog to keep everyone updated on my training progress, you can find it at http://nicholasaverre.blogspot.com
So please dig deep and donate now.
Many thanks
Nick
