This year has been a traumatic one to say the least. In march I was diagnosed with cancer. Problems then arose due to the radiotherapy which meant I then had a perineal abscess. This then became gangrenous and meant a stay of approximately eight weeks in the Christie hospital in Manchester.

During this period I was able to witness first hand the dedication, professionalism and wonderfully caring attitude of the staff. From the cleaners through to the consultants, all of them helped me deal with the mental and physical challenges I experienced during my stay. The nurses put me and my family and loved ones at ease throughout.

My journey is not yet complete as I am about to undergo a life changing operation at The Christie in December but I am happy in the knowledge that I will be looked after well in this superb hospital.
