Story
On the 22nd of July, I'll be "competing" (or at least, hopefully, completing, I wouldn't put any each way bets on a Smith victory) in the London triathlon sprint event.
Those of you who know me well will know that I'm not exactly Danny the Champion of the World! I never do anything even vaguely like this. I will have to swim 750m (probably whilst being kicked in the head) cycle 20km and then run 5km. I have barely ever done any of those things individually and will have to do them back to back. With people watching.
There is a good reason! Aside from providing everyone with the opportunity to laugh at me looking like the BFG in a wetsuit, it's an opportunity to raise money for a great cause. Everyone is familiar with Roald Dahl's books and the joy they bring to children the world over, but you may be less familiar with the great work that the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children's Charity does, helping very poorly children by providing them with especially lovely nurses and carers and funding research in a number of areas.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I promise I will be slogging my guts out to train and get through this triathlon, and not look like a Twit! If you're able to dig in to your pockets and give anything you can, then I know that the charity really will do marvellous things with it.
Thanks,
Nick
