Story

Hi, thank you very much for taking the time to visit my page.

My inspiration for my marathon attempt is my very beautiful little niece Kia.

Kia, now 8, suffers from Arthrgryposis, severe equivorus bilateral talapies, dislocated hip and spinal scollosis. To put it simply, she is severely disabled and is continuously in and out of hospital with various operations to ease her disabilities or from accidents resulting in broken bones, she requires around the clock care.

I want to do something for Kia and running a marathon is my choice. Come rain or shine, injury or no injury (fingers crossed this time!!!!!) I intend to cross the finish line for her. I would therefore very much appreciate your support in raising money for other disabled children like Kia.

Phabkids is a really great charity which aims to promote and encourage people with physical disabilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete integration within the wider community and to make more of life together.

The money I raise  will go to supporting a network of over 200 clubs that run projects to help those less able than us overcome feelings of isolation.

All Phab projects have an emphasis on self-reliance, building confidence, supporting others and working as a team. A range of programmed activities in which every child can participate will enable each one to achieve their full potential and explore their horizons while living, working and playing together.

Further aims of the projects are:

-  To encourage each child to use abilities not readily evident in their day-to-day lives and to achieve real fulfilment.

- To nurture self-confidence so that children can take their first steps towards self-fulfilment at a pace they are comfortable with and can sustain.

- To encourage children to explore their horizons and to enable them to challenge limitations placed on them by their own attitudes, their environment and the misconceptions of others.

- To provide an environment where children can live, work and play together, in order to create an atmosphere where they can realise that we each have values, strengths and talents that are not apparent when we judge people by how they look, talk, walk or wheel.

My aim is to raise £1500 but the sky is the limit and I would really appreciate anything you are able to give to help children like my little possom Kia.

Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my page.
