My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  Some suitable pictures of ourselves will be added (for those of you who don't want to see us in our cycling gear better get donating).

Well Gb and I have signed up for the Rock FM Tower to Tower challenge.  A 450 mile cycle ride from Paris to Blackpool, for those of you who didn't get your geography 'O' level it's from the Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower and not as some thought the 4.5 mile journey from London Tower to the BT Tower.  Now I know the thought of two fat lads in lyrca cycling across France and the countryside of England will make many of you laugh but there is a serious reason for doing this and that is to raise £30000 for the Childrens Society who do some great work with young runaways, children in care and disabled children in Lancashire.  Can we please clear up one fact we will not be rubbing soothing cream into each others sore bits at the end of each day.

Imagine you are child. You’ve no one you can talk to. You feel alone and bad stuff is happening at home. Imagine feeling that your only option – your last resort – is to run away from home and live rough on the streets. Imagine that these streets are where you live.  This is the reality for hundreds of young people who run away from home or care in Lancashire each year. They are scared and at risk from dangerous people who want to take advantage of them. One in six children who run away from home say they are forced to sleep rough or with strangers. So every day, The Children's Society‘s local project in Preston works to get these vulnerable children off the streets and into a safe environment. Tragically, some of those children are as young as seven years old.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now and help protect a vulnerable child on our streets before they become another statistic.
